Feria para Aprender: Feria Para Aprender, the largest Spanish-language education fair in Central Texas, provides resources, information and services parents need to help their children succeed academically and to close the achievement gap. AISD had informational booths and was among the more than 100 informational and educational exhibits by colleges, universities, nonprofits and local organizations at the fair.
Great News highlights: Fullmore Middle School Choir performance at Carnegie Hall, Cunningham Elementary's awarded Bright Green Future Grant, AISD students exceed STARR Statewide Passing Rates for third through fifth grades, 32 AISD Teachers earn National Board Certifications or Certification renewal.
Peace through Pie Celebration: Travis High School's culinary arts students join the ranks of other AISD students who are building relationship in their communities by hosting Peace Through Pie celebrations. More than 200 people attended the second annual Peace Through Pie event at Travis, which included desserts provided by the school’s culinary students and musical performances from the school’s mariachi and guitar programs.
AISD launch of the Parent Cloud: The AISD Parent Cloud is coming to a mobile device near you.... Parents will be able to access all their students' educational information in one place. Curriculum, Grades and Assignments and Lunch Menu, to name just a few options, will now be available through the Parent Cloud . It serves as the primary resource for all of the services provided online to our parents. This site gives you direct access into your child's classroom information; registration to your child's campus information, district-wide information and links to other often used services.
Profile of Summitt Elementary teacher Thuan Tang: Thuan Tang, a.k.a. "Mr. T" has been teaching in AISD for nine years. He is currently a third grade language arts and a Vietnamese bilingual instructor. Mr. T also helps coordinate Summitt Elementary's annual Tet Celebration, the most important and popular holiday and festival in Vietnam, with a fundraising dinner, followed by a spectacular performance by dance groups in each grade.
Former Ambassador Antonio Garza visits J.J. Pickle Elementary: Austin ISD student leaders welcome Antonio Garza, former U.S. ambassador to Mexico, to Pickle Elementary School to discuss international relations, as well as his childhood and career.
