Austin Independent School District honored outstanding Latino students in sixth through 12th grade and community members during the Latino Academic Achievement Awards. AISD recognized more than 120 students in such areas as Outstanding Progress in the ESL Program, Appreciation of Culture and Language, Outstanding Community Service Volunteer and Young Latino Leader. The district requested nominations from the community for the Latino Parent Volunteer, Latino Community Service recipient and Latino Excellence in Advocacy awards.
